Air Shipping Kids

I thought it might be helpful to give some tips on how we air-ship kids from Genesis Acres in Wisconsin. The kid/kids(maximum of two per crate) fly out of our regional airport in Appleton,Wi.(ATW) They then fly to Cinn.Ohio where they usually have a slight layover. They board Delta to continue their final flight to their owners destination. We are extremely impressed with the care given to live animals thru Comair/Delta's Pet First program. All kids have arrived safely and not stressed by the trip. We feel that the prices for air-shipping are reasonable. We have shipped to 34 States including N.C., S.C., Maine, Alaska, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, California and Hawaii. Even the Alaska trip was untraumatic for the two kids that flew.

These are some of the typical type of prices for shipping.
2-intermediate crates with 2 kids per crate $366.00 total. That was the most expensive shipping we have had.
The minimum price is around $150.00. Most of the flights average in the price range of $200.00. That would be for one or two kids in an intermediate size crate. It is alittle more for a larger crate and that would contain a kid that is probably 5 months old but we usually ship much younger than that.

We purchase our crates on sale, at $29.95, (which is at your cost). The only other cost is the health certificate of $30.00. This gives potential buyers a ballpark figure of what price range they are looking at for shipping. We can only book 7 days in advance, but can usually book next day or day after flights. There are several flights daily that leave our regional airport. There are temp. requirements for pet safety, which include not flying if the temp. is above 85 degrees at departure, layover, or destination during summer months.

During winter months kids can fly at temps. down to 32 degrees (sometimes lower with a vet acclamation stating that it is safe to fly at a colder temperature) and what is the lowest temp recommended by them.

The health certificate that is done by the vet when he comes and tags the kids is only valid for 10 days for air-shipping compared to the usual 30 days.

We are almost always able to accommodate the buyer even during periods of potential temperature restrictions by shipping out @ 5:30a.m.cst. or 3:30p.m.cst. Each state has their individual requirements for shipping into and out of state. Our vet makes sure that all the requirements are met by checking in advance of coming to the farm, and having everything that is needed to fulfill the requirements for that particular state. We have premise ID tags thru the USDA that our vet uses to tag our animals. (For those who might be interested in how to obtain them you may contact us for information.)

For potential buyers, if you would choose to have your kids air-shipped, we are responsible for booking the flight after receiving the required information from you as to the airport that you would prefer to have your kids shipped to providing that Delta enters that airport. Occasionally there may be driving distance to the nearest airport that the kids would be shipped into. Most of the time it is within an hour or less of the airport, at least that has been our experience to this point. We need to have the exact name of the person that will pick up the kids at cargo or they will not be released. Flights are daily and several times a day as mentioned above so we will do our best to schedule your kids flight when it is convenient for you to pick them up at the airport.

(We must have received FULL payment prior to placing the kids on the plane.)

A 50% down payment will hold your goat and is non-refundable unless as mentioned in the contents of this website that something unforeseen should happen to your goat in our care prior to you receiving it. We will them refund your down payment 100% and will give you a statement providing that information if you so choose, when you make your down payment.

Kids cannot be shipped until they are at least 2 months old, weaned, and thriving well. If there are any other questions you might have please contact us and we will be happy to answer your email. Hopefully this gives a detailed account of the shipping process and what to expect. It has been exciting to have kids traveling throughout the U.S. and to have had contact with so many wonderful people providing good loving homes to our Tennessee Fainting Goats.
